Riverwood Mansion Wedding
A destination elopement in Nashville
by award-winning Nashville wedding photographer, Melanie Grady
When you are planning a Riverwood Mansion wedding in Nashville, you are also dreaming of having stunning portraits. It’s just a fact – if you get married at Riverwood, you have to have amazingly beautiful photos to show from it (you should have no issue with that as long as you hire the right professional)! The 8 acres of lush, perfectly manicured gardens boast some of the best photo backdrops in Nashville! It’s hard to believe that the historic venue is so close to all of the action of downtown, just a few miles away in East Nashville. “The sense of Southern charm and sophistication inspire classic romance, making it a worthy location for a celebration of love. Historical yet welcoming, this artistic mansion invites you in with towering magnolias, marble fireplaces, and abundant chandeliers.” (straight from Riverwood’s website)
The morning of Emily and Casey’s wedding was wetter than wet, and the outlook for dryer conditions was not good. I’m talking close to a 100% chance of rain basically all day. As I walked into the Riverwood mansion (at a bright and early 8:50am), I was quickly reminded of the mansion’s interior’s jaw-dropping beauty. Still, it wasn’t until Emily and Casey walked up to the front door that I was totally put to ease and felt 100% confident about the day. Emily was radiating joy and excitement with her gorgeous smile. My smile grew as I met the lovely couple for the first time and showed Emily to the bridal suite. From the first photo that I took of Emily, I knew I could photograph these two anywhere and the photos would be incredible. She’s a classic beauty and Casey is a tall, strapping, handsome gentleman (just wait til you see their chemistry in these images)!
Long story short… I took more bridal portraits than needed, cried behind my camera during their tear-jerking vows, and was shocked when I was able to take a very large portion of Emily and Casey’s portraits outside (the rain stopped at the perfect time)! Emily wasn’t afraid of a few stray rain drops, and we were able to make her dream wedding photos a reality. I’m so happy to share these with you. I’m also really happy that Riverwood offers short elopement packages. It’s unreal how many beautiful photos can come from just two short hours of coverage in the perfect venue. Congratulations Emily and Casey!! Sending blessings to you in Kentucky!
