This Bowling Green wedding at the Lost River Cave is probably the most unique wedding I’ve ever photographed. The venue is a CAVE! I’ve captured weddings at all kinds of venues: ballrooms, plantations, backyards, professional sports stadiums, wineries, beaches, barns, museums, and more… but never a cave. I’ve never even dreamed of photographing a reception inside a huge rock, surrounded by a deep blue water hole. But that’s where we found ourselves last weekend. 🙂 And it was AWESOME.
Katie and Drew have been sweethearts for as long as all of their friends and family can remember I think. They first started dating in the 8th grade! It’s obvious that they were truly made for each other and they finally sealed the deal in front of all of their loved ones on a beautiful (and hot) summer day in southern Kentucky.
This wedding is all earthy and oh-so beautiful. If you are a fan of the great outdoors, you’ll love this wedding. The ceremony was outside of the cave in a wooded area right next to the stream of fresh cool water flowing into the cave. Katie and her bridesmaids all wore beautiful floral crowns – adding a beautiful boho look to the already organic and natural style of the wedding. The shade of the trees was well received by guests who were trying not to sweat too much before the dancing began!
Thanks for being here to see this sneak peek of Katie and Drew’s day… be sure to make it the whole way to the end for some awesome dark cave portraits. Best of luck to the newlyweds!! I hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon on the other side of the globe! 🙂
